Read Time - 5 Minutes

Hey,

The world is catching on...

More and more people are ditching their 9-5’s in order to build their careers on the internet.

Competition is rapidly increasing.

There's a lot of noise...

Standing out and breaking through the noise, has never been more important!

In this email I am going to share with you 5 different ideas on standing out but before I do that I want to share with you a little story I love about the power of standing out.

Erol Gerson was a recent college grad looking for a job. He sent out dozens of resumes without a response. Needing a job to pay the bills, he wondered what he could do to get a response. He decided to print out his resume on a piece of paper that was 1/8th of an inch longer than the standard. He also added a red stripe on both of the long ends of his resume. He sent out the new resumes and within a couple of days the phone started ringing.

This is the power of standing out, and luckily for you, it only takes 1/8th of an inch to be able to stand out.

Five Ideas On Standing Out

 1. Why people struggle to stand out -

Tall Poppy Syndrome

Tall Poppy Syndrome refers to a social phenomenon where successful or high-achieving individuals are criticized, resented, or even ostracized by their peers or society at large. (Think of Kanye, Trump, Andrew Tate) The term originates from the idea of tall poppies in a field, where the tallest ones are often cut down or trimmed to the same level as the rest. This attitude can create a culture of conformity, where people feel pressure to blend in and not stand out too much to avoid being targeted for criticism or envy. As a result, individuals may hold back from expressing their unique qualities, pursuing their goals, or taking risks for fear of being perceived as "too big for their boots."

2. Stop trying to be someone

I used to scuff when I heard someone say “Just be yourself” but the longer I play this game the more wisdom I see in that simple statement. Standing out is a matter of being different and you are already different! You already stand out. There is no one in the world like you in this world. Let that sink in! Your job is to sit down with a piece of paper and identify all the different qualities, habits and activities that constitute your identity. Then, figure out which of those you want to intentionally share with the world. There is no need to go out and try to be something that you are not. You already have everything you need within you. All you have to do is look inside.

3. Master Communication

I am by no means a master communicator, but I’ve come a long way from where I started and from my personal experience I can tell you that the better you are at communicating through - text, audio or video - the easier it will be for you to stand out and engage others. Jordan Peterson has spoken extensively about the power of effective communication and how it can make an individual dangerous. - Don’t you want to be dangerous? - According to Peterson, when you can express your ideas clearly, you’ll easily be able to garner attention, persuade others, and build your influence.

4. Be Consistent -  â€¨â€¨

“Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.” ― Ovid

I came across this quote a while back, I have no idea who Ovid was but he was ovidiously a gangster.

See what I did there? Hehe!

See, business doesn't have to be so serious.

Anyways, I don’t have much to add to this one besides BE CONSISTENT, people notice and it makes all the difference.

5. Be Good

“If you want to stand out, you have to be outstanding” - Russ

One of the easiest ways to stand out is to simply be good at the thing you do. The cream always rises to the top and the better you are, the more you will naturally stand out.  The best at anything don’t have to go out and seek attention. Attention comes to them. When you are good, you become magnetic. One of the tenants I live by is that money is attracted to genuine value and true expertise. So get good at your craft.

 Really good. Exceptionally good.
